Awards at NASPSPA, 2017 Posted 15 Jun 2017
Professor's Tim Lee and Digby Elliott (formerly of McMaster University, where they were both active committee members, teachers, collaborators and mentors of mine), were both awarded Distinguished Scholar Status at NASPSPA in San Diego. I had the honour of introducing Dr Lee (along with Quincy Almeida from Laurier University and Diane Ste-Marie from U. of Ottawa).

 We are heading off to San Diego June 4th - 8th for the 50th Anniversary special of NASPSPA (N. American Society for Sport Psychology & Physical Activity). Two of our current students will be presenting; April Karlinsky and David Hendry, as well as past student, Desmond Mulligan, on some research we are conducting at UBC:
Successful Sport Expertise workshop at NASPSPA Posted 22 Jun 2016
We had a fantastic time at the INS in Quebec, in the top floor of the Olympic Tower, overlooking Montreal. Thanks to all who participated in the event which was held on June 15th, just before the NASPSPA main conference. We had 120 people attending the event, with 16 presentations on topics related to deliberate practice and talent identification, perceptual-cognitive skills in sports and issues in sports' expertise. Stay tuned as we are planning to disseminate some of the research presented at this event in the Journal of Motor Learning and Development.

The Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology (SCAPPS) had its beginnings in Edmonton in 1969 as a meeting of scholars, both faculty and graduate students, interested in research in psychomotor learning and sport psychology. It was founded as a society in Banff, Alberta, in 1977.Please see the SCAPPS website for more information.
